FAQs

What is the Qi Rising® Method?

The Qi Rising® Method is a highly personalised, detail-oriented approach to TCM. We thoroughly investigate your problems, seeking to address the root cause(s) of imbalance, in order to promote profound and lasting changes.

Each session is thoughtfully tailored to your individual needs, supporting the innate healing capabilities of your body. We work with a variety of techniques and approaches including acupuncture, moxibustion, breathwork, auriculotherapy, nutrition coaching, energy healing, and hypnotherapy, among others.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s difficult to say, as each person is unique. We will put together a treatment plan during your intake appointment, after carefully assessing your specific needs. As our treatments are highly individualised, we can often see results more quickly than other TCM practices.

A good rule of thumb: the longer you’ve had symptoms, the longer treatment usually takes. The exception to this rule is pain, where we expect to see a swift reduction in noticeable pain, while the underlying cause of the pain will take longer to rebalance.

How should I prepare for my appointment?

Please observe the following:

  • Wear loose clothing

  • Avoid cleaning your tongue for 24 hours prior to your appointment

  • If possible, avoid smoking and caffeine for at least 4 hours prior to your appointment

  • Eat a light meal at least 1 hour before your appointment

  • Please complete the intake form sent to you

Which conditions can you treat?

TCM has successfully been used for centuries to treat a wide variety of conditions. We have a wealth of knowledge and we’re able to help with a wide range of concerns such as:

  • ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) & Long-COVID - a specific focus of ours

  • Recurring headaches

  • Migraine

  • Treatment-resistant back pain

  • Allergies

  • Dysautonomia

  • Unexplained pain

  • Acne

  • Quitting smoking

What can you do for my pain?

We will always seek to find the root cause of any symptoms you experience, but we understand that pain can be debilitating. If you experience chronic pain we can utilise QR®Now - a unique, targeted form of acupuncture which has been created to provide fast pain relief.

We can provide QR®Now acupuncture in a 30-minute pain-focused appointment, or as part of a full-body acupuncture treatment.

How do remote consultations work?

Remote TCM consultations are commonplace in other countries, such as Singapore and Taiwan. We believe we are the first TCM practice in the Netherlands to offer this service. We offer remote consultations for everyone, and also provide telehealth memberships.

Telehealth, of course, has some limitations. We ask that you visit the practice in-person for more complex problems. If you are unable to visit the practice but live in the Rotterdam area, then please get in contact with us, and we’ll try our best to provide a tailored solution.

Google Meet is used for remote sessions. When you book a remote session, you’ll receive a link to the online meeting room via email. Having difficulties getting access? Please get in contact with us.

Do you offer discounts?

Absolutely! Accessibility and inclusivity are at the heart of everything we do. Students can get 10% off with the code student10.

If you can’t afford the cost of sessions, we can try to arrange a more affordable option for you. There’s more information about this here.

Unfortunately, we can’t offer discounts on testing services carried out by our partner lab or nutrition coaching programmes.

Will my health insurance reimburse the costs?

Sadly, no. We don’t work with Dutch health insurers.

The Dutch health insurance model focuses on behandelingen/treatments, but this only allows for very short periods of consultation with clients.

We fundamentally believe in listening and engaging to fully understand your problems, before we suggest an appropriate path forward. Our consultations are detailed and go on for much longer than those within the Dutch health insurance system.

Some international insurers may cover (part of) the costs. Your employer may also help - usually through an employee training budget. We are happy to work with you to find a solution.

You will always receive an invoice after your appointment, which you can submit to your insurer/employer for consideration.

Which languages do you speak?

The working language of the practice is English.

We occasionally refer to some TCM terms in their original Chinese e.g. Qi (vital energy), but always provide translations.

Do you treat children?

Adults and children have different medical needs, which require different approaches. We work exclusively with adults.
